The Love Pit Dog Rescue

Share about your mission and how your organization is making a difference in Dallas.

We are a foster based rescue on a mission to 'Save The Pit Bull' through rescue, rehabilitation, training, and advocacy. Our goal is to revolutionize rescue in Texas and educate the public about a breed that often falls victim to breed specific legislation, discrimination, and cruelty.

Across the US, 40% of dogs in shelters are Pit Bulls. In North Texas alone, Pit Bulls make up 65% of shelter dogs. Worse still, 87% of these North Texas Pit Bulls are eventually euthanized. These dogs need us now more than ever.

On North Texas Giving Day 2019, The Love Pit is aiming to raise $40,000 to help us fulfill our mission to #SavethePitBull and make a bigger impact in our DFW community. 100% of funds raised will go towards:

1. TLP Headquarters, Dallas: Help us continue to build a responsible, revolutionary community of Pit Bull advocates, made stronger by bringing our programs, dogs, volunteers, fosters and supporters together, under one roof.

2. TLP Thrive: Help us successfully rescue and rehabilitate emergency medical dogs, senior dogs, differently abled dogs, and disabled dogs. Without responsible advocates, these dogs are far less likely to make it out of shelters alive.

3. Community Programs: Help us make a bigger impact in our DFW community!

a.) TLP Education: No Bullying campaign series in DFW Schools and after-school programs - in partnership with the Lucky Humane Education Programs created by IPittytheBull.
b.) TLP Shelter Helpers: Donation drives and volunteer effort on site at local shelters in DFW.
c.) iREHOME: Aiming to help the DFW community of pit bull owners with the resources they need to keep their dogs against all odds, or in worst case scenarios, help them to safely rehome.

Have you participated in North Texas Giving Day in past years? What was your experience?

North Texas Giving Day has been huge for us over the last few years. It has truly started a lot of momentum within our rescue and our fundraising! In 2015, we raised $15,000 and last year we raised almost $27,000. North Texas Giving Day is more than the raising funds part, we now have a really cool volunteer base that we’ve never had before. We believe it came out of participating in this extraordinary day of giving! North Texas Giving Day has given us the amazing opportunity to share our mission and attract more people to save more pit bulls!
